JKNPP calls for SC direction on Kashmir violence | | | Early Times Report NEW DELHI, Sep 17: Jammu and Kashmir's National Panthers Party (JKNPP) on Friday filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a direction to the centre and the state government to keep schools, colleges and hospitals out of the purview of curfew imposed in Kashmir Valley due to ongoing violence. The petition that has been filed in the apex court has also sought protection to students, daily wage labourers and chemists from its purview. It has also sought for providing all necessary assistance to patients visiting the hospitals for their treatment. In the petition, the party has also asked for the High Court, subordinate courts and graveyards to be kept out of the domain of the curfew. In the petition, it has been submitted that continued curfew across Kashmir Valley has compounded miseries and troubles of the people since the last 80 days. The petition has sought intervention of the Supreme Court, stating that Union of India as well as the state government both have utterly failed to discharge their duties and ensure protection to fundamental rights. Meanwhile, in an emergency meeting of Kashmir Council of JKNPP held in Srinagar which was presided over by Syed Rafiq Shah, party endorsed stand of JKNPP Chairman Bhim Singh’s stand to boycott meeting the all party delegation sent by the central government to assess Kashmir’s situation. Shah ridiculed idea of central government. Shah also regretted that Kashmir is not the only region which requires special attention but Jammu and Ladakh also deserve special attention while adding that all the efforts made by central government in the recent past have proved futile. Others who participated in the meeting included Provincial President Kashmir Province Farooq Ahmed Dar and other officer bearers.
