District Sport Climbing meet from Sept 25 | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 17: Organised by the Mountaineering Association of J&K in collaboration with Sprawling Buds School, Lakshmipuram, Chinore in Bantalab here, the 10th Jammu District Sport Climbing Competition shall be held on September 25 and September 26. In this two-day meet, about 200 climbers from various educational institutions and adventure clubs of Jammu, Akhnoor, R S Pura, Bishnah and Arnia are likely to take part. “The competitions shall be conducted at the 40 ft high Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall in the school premises of Sprawling Buds as per international rules and regulations. However, participants in the sub-junior boys and girls categories would be climbing with top rope in the preliminary round and lead climb in the subsequent rounds,” general secretary of the Association, Dr C K Khajuria told SAN. Competitions would be conducted in six categories of men, women, boys, girls, sub- junior boys and girls in both Lead as well as Speed events. Whereas climbers born in 1993 or before can compete in men and women categories, the climbers born in 1994 or after are eligible under boys and girls categories. Candidates born in 1997 or after shall be eligible for Sub Junior Boys and Girls categories. Climbers who wish to participate in the competition may fill in the participation form along with entry fee of Rs.100 at the office of Mountaineering Association of J&K at 75-76, Sarwal Colony (behind M/S Adventure Holidays India) on any day up to September 22, informed Dr Khajuria.
