DC Kathua gives on spot directions to address students’ transport problems

KATHUA 17 Sept:The students of villages Jarai, Taraf Sanji, Maqsoodpur, Sample Sabla, Chambe da Bagh, Khrkara Morh of Kathua held a massive protest outside the DC office to list their long pending demand for providing the proper and timely transport facility for the school going student community of the area and submitted a memorandum to the DC Sanjeev Verma.
It was done under the leadership of district youth president of National Conference S. Harpreet Singh Sethi.
The resenting students Diksha Devi of class 11th, Shivani of class 9th, Sunil Kumar ITI student, Manjit Kumar of class 11th said that the transport facility for the students of the area is totally absent while the majority of students studying in their respective educational institute in Kathua city have to travel a distance more than 6 kilometer by searching for lifts on private vehicles.
They further said that the transport means like autos which operate in the area are not functioning properly and overload the student which is a dangerous proposition. The youth leader of the National Conference S. Harpreet Singh Sethi along with the students told that they have already submitted a demand charter before the RTO Kathua fifteen days ago to sanction proper and cheap transport facility for the student community in the area and said that that most of these students come from below poverty families and they cannot afford much to carry out their routine movement without proper transport facility. It was hence urged to the district administration to provide adequate and cheap transport facility for these students.
DC Kathua Sanjeev Verma gave patient hearing to the problems of the students and assured to address the problem while issuing on spot directions to the RTO Kathua to meet with genuine demands of the students for providing the immediate transport facility.
