| Teenaged girl raped, murdered in Rajouri | | |
JAMMU: In a shocking incident, a youth first allegedly outraged the modesty of a 17-year-old girl student in Rajouri's Manjakote area last evening and then murdered her.
The victim hailed from Kalaban, Manjakote. The accused, whom police sources identified as Mohammad Younis, son of Mohammad Munshi, is too a resident of Kalaban.
Sources said the girl was collecting grass for cattle in the village fields at about 6 pm yesterday when the accused allegedly raped her.
Hearing her screams when some villagers reached the spot, they found her lying in a pool of blood with injuries on her body, the sources added.
The villagers evacuated her to hospital, but she died on the way.
She was an 11th class student of government higher secondary school, Gambhir Muglan.
A case in this connection stands registered at the Manjakote police station.
When contacted, Manjakote police station SHO, Inspector Mohammad Rafiq Khan said a hunt had been launched to nab the accused. Raids were being conducted at his possible hideouts to nab him, he added.
He said though the body had been sent to hospital for post-mortem, it was almost clear that the accused had raped the girl before murdering her. |
