| Trainee cop among 2 killed in road mishaps | | |
JAMMU: Two persons, including a trainee police constable, were killed and four others wounded in separate road accidents on the lower Akhnoor road here today.
An Alto car collided with a roadside tree near Toph on the lower Akhnoor, resulting in the death of a trainee police cop and injuries to four other trainees.
The mishap took place at about 4 am when the trainee cops were on their way from Muthi to Kathua, police sources said.
Sources identified the dead as Bobby Kumar, son of Bodh Raj of Patoli Brahmana.
His marriage was to be solemnised on September 20. After post-mortem, the body was handed over to his family members for last rites.
The injured were identified as Ranjit Kumar, son of Darshan Kumar of Kotli, Shiv Prasad, son of Puran Chand of Sruinsar, Vinod Kumar, son of Kartar Chand of Akhnoor, and Hoshiar Singh, son of B Singh. They were undergoing treatment at the GMC hospital here.
In another incident, Lalit Kumar (20), son of Kishore Kumar of Pallanwala, Akhnoor, was injured critically after he fell from a bus near Kanhachak at about 12.30 pm.
He was evacuated by police to the GMC hospital where he succumbed to his wounds at about 3.30 pm. Post-mortem was conducted on his body by doctors. Later, it was handed over to his family members for last rites.
Cases in this connection stand registered at the concerned police stations. |
