Parents concerned for career of their wards, blame separatists for playing with the students future | Himalayan feature | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 17: With strike continuing for last three months in Kashmir Valley the parents of students especially belonging to middle class and lower middle class families are totally perturbed for the career of their wards who have lost over three months of their academics. The people belonging to affluent classes and politicians have already shifted their students to other institutions outside the Vallley and got them admitted in educational institutions there. However those who are unable to shift their children outside the Valley are totally perturbed over the future of their wards. The prevailing disturbing situation has put a great challenge to the student community in Kashmir as they can't over come the academic loss suffered by them during last three months. There is already a brewing resentment among the students of professional colleges in the Valley whose examinations were not taken during last three months. The students of NIT Srinagar have already voiced their concern against the delay in holding of their examinations. They alleged that for last three months the authorities have failed to conduct the examinations of the students putting them to many hardships. The students alleged that despite giving many representations to the authorities they are tight lipped over the issue. A 7th semester student of civil engineering of NIT Srinagar pleading anonymity said that their colleagues in other colleges have joined the next semesters over three months back and they will go one semester ahead of NIT Srinagar in case the situation in Kashmir continues to be this. The students have again made a strong plea to authorities to announce the date sheet for examinations as early as possible but the authorities are in a quandary and can't take any decision due to prevailing situation in Kashmir Valley. Same is the case with the students of other professional and non professional institutions whose parents are left with no option but to curse the separatists and authorities alike. The parents of some of these aggrieved students said that it is not possible for all parents to send their children for studies outside Valley as it is too expensive. They are also critical of the Hurriyat leaders who are enforcing the bandhs in Valley after sending their own wards to prestigious educational institutions outside J&K for studies. “The children of Geelani have also studied outside and same is case with other separatist leaders. Asha Indrabi's wards are also studying outside while she is compelling the common Kashmiris to have a complete shutdown, said another parent of an engineering student. “We can't open our mouth against them because the threat perception looms large over our heads'' he said, adding the people are fed up and they can't tolerate this for a long now. ``if situation persists like this we will be forced to revolt against the separatists and Hurriyat leadership who have given stones to innocent youth while their own children are enjoying the life outside the Valley. |
