| Heroine Trafficker denied bail | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Sept 18 : Third Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Pawan Dev Kotwal dismissed bail application of Lal Chand allegedly international Heroine Trafficker who was arrested on April 5, 2006 and recovered 7 KG heroine worth Rs 7 Crores in the international market.
While dismissing the bail application of Lal Chand s/o Sardari Lal Panjtoot Planwalla Akhnoor, Third Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Pawan Dev Kotwal after hearing APP GS Charak for the state observed that from the perusal of file it is revealed that applicant has been charged for the offence U/Ss 2/3 of E&IMCO and 8/21/23/39 of NDPS Act and it is also manifest from the perusal of record that all the witnesses expect part statement of Investigation Officer are examined by the prosecution. The applicant is alleged to be crossing borders and in a way international trafficker and his release at this point of time is not in the interest of justice and rather his detention is in the larger interest of society. Mere incarceration for certain period does not entitle the accused bail in such grave allegations and dismissed the bail application. JNF
