KD protests against non-functioning of street lights | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Sept 18: Kranti Dal (KD) youth president Samarjeet Singh and Harsis Singh led the protest of the shopkeepers of the Canal Road and Malhotra Complex Association against the non-functioning of street lights on the main road. They said the lights did not function at night hours and the whole area looks like a deserted place. They said that in the present volatile situation any untoward incident can take place. The area of the canal Road is equivalent to the Raghunath Bazar and Apsara Road, where every facility is being provided but the officials keep neglecting Canal Road. Darshan Kumar, Sunil Talwar and senior vice president Vijender Singh Dutta of the area said that in the coming festive season the area needs lights as there will be heavy rush on the road. Any person with malafide intentions can take advantage of the darkness in the area. Also the voltage in the area is very low and they demanded that a transformer with a high capacity should be installed in the area. They said they met the PDD officials who said that the liability of repair of the lights lie with the Municipality. When it was enquired from the Municipality, the officials put the blame on the PDD department. They said the protest is to open the eyes of the concerned department otherwise they will lock the officials in their respective offices and block the road. Those who were present included Pritam Sharma, Rajinder Singh Chib, Vice President Kamaldeep Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Kimat Mahajan, Ravi Talwar, Kaka, Kuldip Kumar Swami, Ranjeet Singh, Mahaan Singh, Reedev, Deepak Sabti, Rajinder Bhagat and Jagdish Sudan.
