MAM-GGM again face to face in football final | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 18: Repeating their last year’s performance, title holders MAM College and runners-up, GGM Science College again reached the final beating their opponents in tie-breaker in the semi-finals of the inter-college men’s football tournament, organised by Department of Sports and Physical Education, JU at Science College grounds, here today. A big crowd enjoyed the neck to neck fight in both the contests, which could not be decided in stipulated time. The extra time too could not yield any results leading to application of the tie-breaker rules by the organizers. In both the games, no side was ready to give up and showed their dominance over each other with the result the semi-finals ended in a goalless draw. Now, the final, which is going to be an interesting contest, is scheduled to be played on Monday i.e. September 20. As per the eye witness count and going by the performance during the tournament, GGM Science College has better prospects in the final. Earlier, in the first semi-final, Science College trounced PG Arts by three goals to one. Nitin, Balpreet and Anil emerged successful in penalty kicks while Amit missed the target. From PG Departments, only Ravinder could dodge Science College goal-keeper, Ishan while Navdeep, Anurag and Tourif missed. Later, in the second semi-final, MAM registered a 4-3 win over Government Degree College Udhampur again in tie-breaker. From winners, MAM College, Amanjot, Sahil, Dilbahadu and Gautam were successfully netted the ball while Raza missed. From Udhampur College, Akshay and Gurjeet could not convert their kicks into goal.
