9/19/2010 12:55:27 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Sept 18: Addressing a deputation of people from Doda constituency, Abdul Majid Wani the senior Congress leader and MLA said that education is a critical requisite and an effective catalyst for social & economic change and providing high quality educational infrastructure in backward areas of Doda has became prime agenda for the coalition Government.
No Doubt, people of Doda constituency have witnessed grim educational face due to non existence of institutions of excellence in their area.
But now, people of the area are full of enthusiasm and aspire to receive the benefits of steps initiated by the State Govt.
Wani said that the Minister for Technical Education has already given assurance regarding start of classes for the Government Polytechnic College from current session in the building complex of ITI Doda.
The building complex of ITI Doda is spacious enough to accommodate first few batches of the Polytechnic College till work for construction of building complex of Government Polytechnic College Doda is completed.
Till now, students of this far flung & mountainous region had to go to Jammu or Srinagar for undergoing job oriented Polytechnic Diploma Course.
There is no dearth of Government as well as Private Polytechnic Colleges in Jammu & Srinagar city, but it was not affordable especially for poor people from this constituency.
Wani assured the deputation that keeping his words, the Minister for Technical Education shall soon pass on necessary directions to the concerned authorities and the first session of Government Polytechnic College Doda shall be started from this year.
He said focus of the government is providing higher education to the students of backward regions like that of Doda under its commitment for equitable development of all regions of J&K and diminishing the difference between “Have’s” & “Have’s Not” in our state.
