| 6-yr-old killed, 8 hurt in road mishaps | | | KATRA: A six-year-old girl was killed and eight others were wounded in separate road accidents in Kalakote area of Rajouri today.
Tanu Kumari (6), daughter of Tara Singh of Mogla, was walking by the roadside when a speeding minibus (JK14/3032) hit her near Mogla at about 7.45 am as a result of which she sustained serious injuries.
She was admitted to the Sunderbani hospital where she later died.
She studied in 2nd class and was going to school when the minibus hit her.
After post-mortem, the body was handed over to her family members for last rites.
The minibus driver Raju, son of Dalip Singh of Mogla, fled the spot.
Police had registered a case against him and launched a manhunt to nab him.
In another incident, eight persons sustained wounds when the minibus (JK11/1257) in which they were travelling skidded off the road at Mehri in Kalakote at about 11 am and fell into a gorge.
They were identified as Om Prakash, son of Hari Ram of Sunderbani, Harbans Lal, son of Shankar Dass of Sunderbani, Balwant Singh, son of Hari Singh of Nowshera, Jagdish Chander, son of Suram Dass of Nowshera, Rekha Sharma, daughter of Jagdish Lal of Lamberi, Rakesh Kumar, son of Baldev Raj of Braevi, Tej Ram, son of Khem Raj of Siot, and Rashpal Singh, son of Gian Singh of Solki.
Driver Satish Kumar, son of Dwarka Nath of Siot, fled the spot.
Police had registered a case against him. |
