| Youth accused of teenage girl's murder held | | | JAMMU: A youth, who allegedly murdered a teenaged girl at Kotli Kalaban in Manjakote area of Rajouri Thursday, was today arrested by police from the village forests.
He was identified as Mohammad Younus, son of Munshi Khan of Kotli Kalaban.
Police came to know about the incident after Amjad Hussain, son of Mohammad Farooq of Kotli Kalaban, lodged a report with Manjakote police station that his sister Afsana Farooq was cutting grass for cattle in their field close to their house when she was assaulted by their neighbour Younus.
He alleged that the accused inflicted serious injuries on Afsana's head with an axe and then fled the spot.
The girl died while being shifted to hospital. Police sources said the accused was held after series of raids at his possible hideouts in the village forests.
He was booked under section 302 of RPC at the Manjakote police station, the sources added. |
