| Teenage girl among two burnt to death at Khour | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 18: In a most inhuman act, a 25-year-old girl and her neighbour -- a teenager -- were burnt to death at Gigryal near Pallanwala in Khour area of Akhnoor.
Police sources said Krishna Devi, wife of Gyan Singh, and her daughter Rajni (25) were sleeping in the verandah of their house at Gigryal on September 2 night when Kajal (12), daughter of Romesh Chander, who lived in their neighbourhood, also came to sleep with them. All the three were sleeping when someone sprinkled petrol on them at about 1.30 am and then set them afire, the sources added.
The fire was later extinguished by the family members with the help of their neighbours and the victims were evacuated to the GMC hospital with severe burns.
While Rajni and Kajal succumbed to their injuries at the GMC hospital today, Krishna was struggling for her life. After post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to their family members for last rites.
The Khour police had registered a murder case in this connection under section 302 of RPC. Sources said though police had picked up 20 odd suspects during the course of their investigation, they were yet to get any clue to either the identity, or the whereabouts of the real accused.
The cause behind the incident was also yet to be ascertained. |
