| NABARD launches women farmer’s clubs | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Sept 19: Chief General Manager of NABARD Sukhdeve today inaugurated two women farmers cub at Udhampur.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief General Manager gave detailed input on the concept of Farmers Clubs and methodology to be adopted in formation and management of the clubs. He congratulated farmers of the area in general and women in particular for forming these clubs.
He also expressed satisfaction over the initiatives taken by women farmers in the form of such progress activities in their areas. He exhorted that such more efforts are still required at various levels to bring agriculture to desired level. He hoped that these new clubs which include propagating the five principals of “development through credit”, use of the credit with skill to generate income, saving portion of the generated out of the activity undertaken with the help of bank loan and timely repayment of loan to maintain the credit flow by the banks.
Lead District Manager A.K. Razdan said that NABARD has achieved feat of formation of 54805 FCs in the country up to March, this year out of which 50 FCs are in the Udhampur district . He emphasized need for such vibrant clubs in agriculture sector of district as it has tremendous potential for same. Chairman Ellaqaui Dehati Bank (EDB) Udhampur A.K. Razdan, Parvinder Bharti, officers of various line departments and representatives of farmers club were also present on the occasion.
