In order to make aware people about the functioning of police, Ramban police has started a program, “Know your police” today. Under this program police has started to brief the students about the police and its functioning. On the very first day various students and teachers visited Ramban police station and got then privilege to see the department’s functioning from a very close distance.
. Speaking to Early Times, SP Ramban, Basant Ratth said that they are imparting police related information to the students who are above 9th standard with a motive to educate them about the way police files FIR (First Information Report), works in militancy infested areas and various other technicalities of the police department,in order to demystify the ignorance on part of people about the police. “It would further help them to root out the menace of corruption from the department, as most of people are unaware about functioning of police due to illiteracy and students can play an active and positive role in this concern.”
He said that under this program, students from various parts of Ramban will visit near by police station, twice a week to know their police. According to him this program is going on in Banihal, Batote, Chanderkote, Gool and various other areas of Ramban.
It is pertinent to mention here that Ramban is the only District where police has started such awareness program to sensitize the common masses about its functioning.
