DDC chairs first CAC meeting

KATHUA, Sept 19:District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kathua, Mr Sanjeev Verma convened a meeting of Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) meeting here, today.
The aim of holding the meeting was to inform and advice district administration on matters of public welfare issues, including redressal of public grievances and promotion of peace, security and harmony to facilitate building good relation between administration and common people and to maintain public tranquility between various sections of the society.
Tehsildar Headquarter Mr Jatinder Mishra and members of the citizen advisory council which include representatives of various political parties and prominent members of the town were present in the meeting.
Mr Verma hailed the people of Kathua for maintaining good communal harmony in the district even during resting times. He said that people of Kathua remained united during the tough times in the past and hoped that such communal harmony and brotherhood would be maintained in the future also.
He however cautioned the people to remain vigilant against the nefarious designs of the anti-social elements who always try to disrupt the peace .
DDC said that the people’s cooperation, The DDC said that their timely feedback will definitely help in effective planning and execution of the development works. He assured the meeting that complaint regarding development and other corrupt government officials will be taken seriously and exemplary action will be taken if anybody was found guilty. Dr Verma also said that Tehsildar Headquarter Mr Jatinder Mishra will be assigned the job of looking into the complaints and speedy mechanism will be followed to deal with the erring officals.
Members of the citizen advisory council appreciated the DDC Kathua for conceptualizing the Citizen Advisory Council. The members unanimously assured that they will extend every support for maintaining peace and harmony in the district. They also said that CAC will help in bring all the concerns and issues with the administration and help in building congenial relations between administration and people.
The members of the CAC also informed the DDC Kathua about their concerns. The members urged upon the DDC Kathua to speed up the road work of Kalibadi- Hatlimorh road, Stadium work, and University South campus, provision for International Bus Stand, improvement of Lanes and drains of the town, adequate water supply to Kandi areas, filling of Urdu teachers in the schools. They also called for launching a drive to against the menace of drug addiction in the town as many youth are indulging in this bad habit. A dedicated parking area for the main bazaar was also demanded in the meeting. The members urged the DDC Kathua to keep a check on the functioning of ETT colleges. The solution for traffic congestion in Lakhanpur and flyover at Hatli Morh and Kalibadi were also demanded during the meting.
The DDC gave a patient hearing and assured that their demands will be redressed on priority.
Earlier, the DDC met with the delegation of the Kissan Movement of Kathua District, led by former power minister Mr Babu Singh. The delegation apprised the DDC about various problems of the farmers of the area through forty pointed charter of demands.
DDC Kathua Mr Sanjeev Verma listened the delegation patiently and assured that needful action will be taken into the matter. He appreciated the suggestions and assured them that the matter will be taken up with the higher authorities.
