Elaborate arrangements made for participating teams: Chib | Jammu bracing up to host 56th National School Games | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 19: Minister for Youth Services & Sports Mr. R. S. Chib on Sunday said that Jammu and Kashmir is hosting 56th National School Games involving under-19 Boys & Girls in Jammu from September 20. Talking to media persons here today, Mr Chib said about 600 participants from 30 states, Union Territory are expected to participate in the coming championship which will continue till October 1. Giving details, the Minister said that the Department of Youth Services & Sports geared-up its missionary for organizing this National Event in the Winter Capital under the aegis of School Games Federation of India. He said teams have started arriving in Jammu, which are being received by Reception Committee adding that elaborate arrangements have been made for the lodging of visiting participants from different state at Youth Hostel, Nagrota and Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar. He said the sports events of the national games will be held in M. A. Stadium, Jammu University, Mini Stadium Parade Ground , G. G. M Science College and Sports Stadium, BSF Paloura and Sainik Housing Board at Sainik Colony, Jammu The inauguration of the Championship Boys U-19 years Football shall be held at M. A. Stadium, Jammu on September 20, 2010 at 10 a.m, while as the concluding function of the same shall be held at M. A. Stadium, Jammu on September 25 at 4.00 p.m. Similarly, the inauguration of the Girls U-19 years Football Championship shall be held at M. A. Stadium, Jammu on September 27 and concluding function of the same shall be held at M .A Stadium, Jammu on October 1 at 4.00 p.m. Round about 150 departmental officials have been put on the organizing job of the said Championship. These officials constitute the Reception Committee, Ceremony Committee, Lodging & Boarding Committee, Control Room, Medical Committee, Technical Committee, Equipment Committee, Laison Committee, and Finance Committee. A Control Room has been established at Sports House, M. A. Stadium, Jammu, he added Mr Chib informed that the teams from Goa, Pondicherry, Maharashtra, J&K, Manipur, Assam, Andra Pardesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Tripura, Punjab, Chandigarh, IPS, KVS, Haryana, M.P., Himachal Pardesh, Rajasthan, Utrakhand, Chattisgarh, West Bengal, Meghalaya, Kerala, Uttar Pardesh and Orrisahave already confirmed their participation, while un-confirmed teams do also pour in which can take strength of participating states to 30 . The Minister apprised that for the last five years number of National events have been hosted by the Department of Youth Services & Sports and State Sports Council at Srinagar and Jammu under the aegis of School Games Federation of India and respective federations of State Sports Council. The Minister said that department is trying to take advantage of various centrally sponsored schemes concerning construction of hostels and SPDA centers to strengthen sports and youth services infrastructure in the state. Among others, Director General Youth Services and Sports Mr. Leharwal Director School Education Zahida Khan, Director Youth Services & Sports Mr. Dar, Chief Medical Officer Jammu Mr. Baldev Raj Sharma, officers from Youth Services and Sports and concerned departments were also present on the occasion.
