Focused attention being paid to improve living conditions in rural areas: Slathia | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 19: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Mr S S Slathia on Sunday said that the government was paying focused attention on improving living conditions in rural areas. The Minister was interacting with locals during his tour to village Khadergal in his home constituency Vijaypur conducted to inspect pace of work on various developmental works. The Minister said that a massive developmental programme has been lunched in rural areas of the state to make available better civic amenities to the people, including safe dirking water, improvement of sewerage and drains, road connectivity, health and education services. He said considering the importance of road communication the state government, with due assistance of centre has set specific targets to link all human habitations under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna. He said the state has already made a major progress in this regard and many areas have been linked to the nearest urban centres adding that road connectivity has given a great imputes to trade and commerce thus improving the economic condition of the people. Listing the developmental activities going on in the area, he said the work on the proposed link road to connect Khadergal with the Jammu Pathankot Highway was in full swing and will be completed by the end of this year. He also assured that the renovation of lanes and drains taken up in the village will be completed in a stipulated time frame. He asked the people to cooperate with the government and ensure effective implementation of the developmental and welfare schemes. The Minister visited all the construction sites and instructed the executing agencies to ensure use of quality material.
