NMC holds rally, raises demands

JAMMU Sept 19: President National Mazdoor Conference (NMC), Subhash Shastri appealed to the Chief Minister to release Sixth Pay Commission arrears along with pending installment of 10 per cent DA due from July last in favour of the employees of the State Government and the pensioners before Dussehra festival as the same has already sanctioned by the Union Cabinet to its employees and pensioners recently.
Addressing a largely attended NMC workers rally here on Sunday, Shastri urged Omar Abdullah to formulate the policy where under DA installments are released in favour of its employees and pensioners of J and K State along with the Central Government. He said delay in releasing DA installments accumulate financial burden on the Government on one hand and increases the hardship of the salaried class.
He said the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission report has developed a good rapport between the government and the employees and also urged Omar Abdullah to consider removal of anomalies in the SRO-93 to satisfy all section of the salaried class.
Pleading the cause of daily rated workers, casual labourers, adhoc, consolidated and contractual employees, Shastri emphasised for their time bound regularisation. He said their economic conditions are very tough due to non-payment of their wages in time which calls for taking immediate measures for improving their working conditions.
The NMC Chief demanded that Srinagar and Jammu be declared as B-1 cities as both capital cities fulfill the norms fixed for the purpose. He said such a provision would also enhance infrastructure development of both the capital cities.
Several resolutions were adopted at the rally which included release of wages of Motivators working in IWDP besides their regularisation, conversion of COLA into DA of PSU employees, timely release of wages, issuance of orders of 180 daily wagers working in Rural Development Department, regularisation of services of the daily wagers, casual labour working in Sericulture, PWD and other departments, Adjusting on vacant post of seasonal labour working in Irrigation Division Akhnoor, RS Pura release of 68 wages of workers of Trikuta Hills Project of Social Forestry Department.
Among those who also addressed the rally included Sham Lal Sharma, Bhupinder Singh, Kasturi Lal, Sukh Dev Singh, Surinder Kumar, Ram Lal, Rampal Sharma, Sham Singh, Mohan Lal, Vijay Kumar Bhagat, Girdhari Lal Bhagat, Dalip Kumar Bhagat and Comrade Barkat Ram
