JKP to host Weightlifting Cluster of Police Games | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, September 19: Jammu and Kashmir Police have been allotted the prestigious Weightlifting Cluster of the 59th All India Police Games by the All India Police Sports Control Board for February. In this one of the important cluster of the Police Games, about 1500 athletes from the disciplines of Weightlifting, Boxing, Wrestling and Judo as also Gymnastics are expected to participate representing different state police teams. As per the reliable sources, the sports wing of the J&K Police has already started making preparations for the five-day event from February 22 to February 26. “No doubt, J&K Police have been organizing Police Games every year, but this time what we are going to host is something big. It is a challenge for the state police to host such a big number of 1500 players, including a number of Arjuna Awardees and well decorated wrestlers, weightlifers, boxers and judokas,” a senior officer of the police told SAN pleading anonymity. With just five months in hand to conduct the Games, the men assigned the task have been looking into the possibilities of up gradation of the existing infrastructure in the Winter Capital and at the same time planning to create new set up.
