30 states expected to participate in School Games | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, September 19: Around 600 boys and girls from 30 states of the country are expected to take part in the 12-day long mega event of 56th National School Games in under-19 football, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), at different venues, here from tomorrow. While the boys’ event shall be declared open at MA Stadium tomorrow, the competition in girls section shall start from September 27. “Holding of School Games in different disciplines by the DYSS in the state has been a regular feature. So, this time, the Department has been allotted football event in both boys and girls sections starting from tomorrow,” Minister for Sports, R S Chib told media persons here this afternoon. The competition shall be held at six different venues simultaneously in the first round of league matches, followed by the knock-out competitions at the main venues of MA Stadium and GGM Science College. To make it a flawless hosting of the national event, the Department has set up various committees involving different ranks under the chairmanship of the Minister and Director General DYSS, S A Leharwal. Most of the states have reported to the organizers today while a few left out are expected to report by tomorrow morning, a senior officer of the department told SAN. However, surprisingly, the organizers failed to provide the visiting reports with copy of the fixture and the final teams of host Jammu and Kashmir.
