HM man held with hawala money | | | JAMMU: A Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) sympathiser and close associate of the outfit's commander for Ramban district was today apprehended by police from Trana Khari in Banihal along with hawala money. He was identified as Mohammad Sharief, son of Ghulam Akbar Naik of Khari. A hawala money of Rs 20,000 was recovered from him, according to police sources. Acting on a tip-off that hawala money was being transferred from Banihal to Khari for its delivery to HM district commander Abdul Rashid Naik alias Qari Zubair, son of Akbar Naik of Gulseer, a special naka was laid by police at Trana Khari. Sources said while cops were frisking pedestrians, they developed suspicion about Sharief when the latter made an attempt to avoid the naka party. He was, however, chased and apprehended by the cops. His search led them to the recovery of Rs 20,000 of hawala money and a letter addressed to Qari. He was immediately arrested and whisked away to the concerned police station. He was booked under sections 13, 17, 18, 20, 21 and 40 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the sources added, saying his sustained interrogation was on.
