| Protesting students force cancellation of Shobhna Narain’s dance programme at JU | | Demands removal of Academic Coordinator Biochemistry deptt | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER

The students of the Biochemistry department of Jammu University (JU), with the support of several student organizations today forced the cancellation of classical dance programme by Padamshri Shobhna Narain, scheduled to held at JU auditorium this evening. The students were protesting against the alleged mismanagement in the Biochemistry department and demanded the removal of Academic Coordinator of the department
Earlier, the students staged a protest in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s Chamber and shouted slogans against Prof. R L Mattoo, Academic Coordinator Biochemistry department. Students also demanded end to adhocism and extension of teaching faculty in JU.. The students, who were supported by several prominent student organizations including Jammu State Students Morcha (JSSM), Jammu Joint Student Federation (JJSF) and Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), also forced the cancellation of classical dance programme by Padamshri Shobhna Narain at JU Auditorium, which was slated for this evening.
Students alleged that Biochemistry department sans laboratory facilities and proper academic arrangements. It is mention here that subject of Biochemistry was introduced in the year 2004 and till the beginning of this month everything was running smoothly in the department.
