14 point memorandum containing BJP viewpoint submitted to APD
9/20/2010 11:14:18 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 20: A 6-member high level delegation of BJP led by state vice-presidents Chander Parkash Ganga and Sofi Yousuf met the visiting All Parties Delegation at Srinagar and submitted 14 point memorandum containing the view point of the BJP over the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The other members of the delegation included Ashraf Azad, Mohd. Maqbool War, Mushtaq Noorabadi and Haleema.
The Kashmir unit of BJP mentioned that the current situation witnessed in isolated parts of the Valley is due to the communal poison.
The BJP members said the separatists have used this situation to encourage immature and impressionable young men to use violence to achieve the goal of Azadi and in many cases sending them to their deaths.
Maintaining that State Govt proved completely in-efficient and has lost confidence among the people, BJP members demanded immediate resignation from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and said that the time has come for an open debate on Article 370 on what its impact has been on the people of the state.
They further said Kashmir is incomplete without Kashmiri Pandits and KPs should be given political reservations according to their strength so as to make them partners in the state political system
"The need of the hour is to empower the people of the state at the grass root level, rather than some politicians. The time has come to firmly establish Panchayati Raj System through the extension of the 73rd Amendment and ensure that the three tier system of governance at the district level is set up. Even people in the urban areas need to be empowered through the 74th Amendment", the BJP members maintained.
