Judicial probe into Mendhar killings sought | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Sept 21: Expressing resentment against Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for innocent killings in Mendher area of Poonch, Member Legislative Assembly and former Minister Rafiq Khan has demanded judicial probe into the matter . After meeting All Party Parliamentary delegation at Jammu, Rafiq Khan said that he has demanded judicial probe in Mendher killing to the chairman of All Parties delegation. He said that the protestors of September 15 had hold anti-America protest but police resorted to indiscriminate firing on them. He added that this showed the failure of the government who could not control even its own police and used force against civilians. MLA has also demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lacs to the next of kin of the deceased killed in Mendher besides a job in their family. He has also sought Rs 5 lacs compensation for the injured. Refuting the allegations of Chief Minister, Rafiq Khan said that Chief Minister had given an irresponsible statement about involvement of any political party in the Mendher episode. He said that Chief Minister is working in frustration and it will be fatal for this state. On the developmental side, Rafiq Khan said that he has submitted a memorandum to the delegation in which he demanded Municipal Committee for the town, opening of 3 higher secondary schools in Poonch among one in Bharoti Mendhar, widening of Surankote –Mendhar, land for the town hall and land for the Stadium. |
