Students protest over staff shortage | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Rajouri Sept, 21: More than hundred students from High school Broh in Kalakot tehsil blocked Rajouri – Jammu road for more than an hour in protest against acute shortage of staff in the school. The students were led by Mohd Shafi, Gulzar hussain and others who blocked the road in front of Tehsil office alleging that the school was upgraded in 2006 and since than Education department failed to provide the requisite staff and infrastructure in the school. Students raised slogans against Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) and Chief Education Officer (CEO) alleging that despite repeated reminders by the head master both the officers failed to mitigate their problems. When contacted Mohd Karim, headmaster, said that he has written to the ZEO and CEO several times and CEO in his reply said that three teachers , two from primary school Panoti and one teacher from government girls high school kalakot have been transferred to this school. “But till today no teacher has joined the school and the present strength in the school is eight teacher, including myself. Out of which one teacher is perusing his B.Ed degree and another was attached in other jobs,” said head master. He further said that for more than 220 students teachers are finding it very difficult to adjust their timings for the periods. As the tehsildar and the ZEO were out of tehsil headquarters Station House Officer , who reached the spot , called the staff of the ZEO’s office and after consultations with them contacted GA Khawaja Dy Commissioner at Rajouri. Deputy Commissioner assured the students that he has instructed the CEO to visit the school on Wednesday and mitigate the problems on spot being faced by the students.
