| Wani calls for closure of private clinics, diagnostic centers | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 21: Organized network of private nursing homes and diagnostic laboratories, being run in parallel by businessmen and promoted by government health functionaries at various levels are trying to eclipse utility of government health and medical institutions by adopting unfair practices.
This was stated by congress leader and MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani in a handout issued here today. He said that resolute measures should be adopted, as a policy by the government to instill confidence in minds of people about objectivity and impartiality in functioning of these government institutions. He further said that poor patients are made to wait for months to undergo surgeries often, adding that serious patients are made to stand in queues.
MLA Doda demanded that all privately run diagnostic centers as well as nursing home should either be closed or taken under control by government, as done in case of JVC Srinagar. Wani further said that every citizen of J&K has fundamental right to get the best Medicare facilities.
He called for ban on private practice by doctors, especially in rural and semi-urban areas should be immediately imposed. Wani expressed hope that the state government with its commitment for providing the best governance to the J&K civil society shall act swiftly and take all such measures as are necessary to improve health and Medicare scenario in the state.
