EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Sept 21: After meeting separatist leaders Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani, Yasin Malik and Mirwaiz Maulvi Farooq yesterday at Srinagar, four members of All Party delegation met another separatist leader Shabir Shah at Chopra Nursing Home, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), where he was undergoing treatment.
The delegation members who visited Room Number 204 of the hospital to meet Shah comprised of former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Babu Lal Marandi, senior DMK leader TR Balu and Joseph Tota, President Asom Gan Parishad.
The members were accompanied by Deputy Director Intelligence Bureau Anurag Kumar. They arrived at GMC&H at around 5 pm and remained there for 45 minutes.
In a closed door meeting, the sources revealed that Shabir Shah termed the All Party delegation's visit to state as a futile exercise since the opinion of the people of Kashmir was kept away. Sources further revealed that Shabir sought resolutions be passed on implementing the UN charter on Kashmir, and the entire proceedings broadcast to the world through video and internet.
In a statement from a Jammu hospital where he was brought from the Kot Bhalwal Jail, Shah described the present movement in Kashmir as a decisive phase of the struggles of the past 63 years. Shah was brought to the hospital at about 1.20 pm, five hours before delegation arrived, for medical check up. Separatist leader and Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party Shabir Shah was taken into custody under Public Safety Act and is presently lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail. He has been taken to the hospital for the treatment of kidney and skin related ailments, the sources said.
