As CWG nears, Jammu traders likely to face slump in business | | | early times report JAMMU, Sept 22 :As the Common Wealth Games (CWG) nears, the business community of Jammu and Kashmir particularly from Jammu region have started facing problems. The CWG is to be held in Delhi from October 3 onwards and transport facilities will be restricted, and because of the absence of vehicles and their movement, big markets of Delhi that use to supply different commodities to other states, including Jammu and Kashmir would remain closed. In wake of security scenario during CWG, the markets would close from September 25. These include wholesale markets of Gurgaon, Noida, Karol Bagh, Sadar Bazaar, Janpath, Lal Kila, Chandni Chowk, and Connaught Place (CP). From computers and its accessories, electronic goods, Leather goods, sports material, furniture items, readymade clothes, footwear, cosmetics goods, and all chinese items besides other items of day to day use, The Jammu traders buy their commodities to the tune of crores of rupees from these markets at reasonable rates every week. One of the businessmen of the winter capital, Satvir Singh, while talking here said that their daily routine work has been affected. Many of them have started hoarding the goods and also planning to place bulk orders sufficient for entire month. This is also resulting in heavy capital investments. "Our entire circle has been collapsed," added Singh. He also said "visit railway station or bus stand, you will find dozens of traders rushing to Delhi daily for placing bulk orders". He also said that even at present their goods has been reaching late than the scheduled time and subjected to frequent checking and scrutiny. Even couriers are reaching Jammu late. He urged the state government to come forward for the rescue of the trader fraternity as a an important source for imports is going to close for almost a month.
