Delegation visit aimed at appeasing Kashmiri separatists: Harsh | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 22: "Jis ki laathi us kee Bhains" (might is right). This age-old axiom was put to litmus test during the visit of members of the All Party delegation to Srinagar and Jammu on Monday and Tuesday. How so? When in Srinagar some members visited the houses of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Molvi Umar Farooq, and Mohd. Yasin Mailk after they had announced that they will not meet the members from Delhi. Working chairman, Panthers Party, Harsh Dev Singh, chairman Panun Kashmir, Dr Ajay Chrungoo, had announced their plan to boycott the members of the All Party delegation but not a single member from Delhi team visited the houses of Harsh and Chrungoo in a bid to calm down their anger in the way they tried to do it with the separatists in Srinagar . And Harsh Dev may not been wrong when he said "It is a clear case of appeasement of Kashmiri separatists. Equally a clear case of appeasing anti-nationalist forces. A case of sidelining and ignoring nationalist and secular forces." Ajay Chrungoo, who heads the biggest body of the Kashmiri displaced people, said "I had been invited after some political leaders mounted pressure on the team from Delhi. I was given 10 minutes." "Was it possible for me to project my views on issues concerning the Kashmir problem, the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus and the ongoing trauma being experienced by the displaced people within 10 minutes, "he said adding "I preferred to stay away to face humiliation." Harsh said the way the members of the All Party delegation focussed their attention towards people in Kashmir was yet another instance of continued discrimination of people of the Jammu region. Asked what made him and his party decide to boycott the All Party delegation Harsh said "we were not invited to the All Party meeting convened by the Prime Minister in New Delhi on September 15. More important than this has been our continued opposition to the demand for grant of autonomy or self-rule and on repeal of the AFSPA and withdrawal of troops. "He said "in our memorandum to the Prime Minister we have made our views on these issues clear and hence we did not want to be part of the crowd that keeps on chanting in favour of autonomy or of azadi." Both Harsh and Chrungoo were of the opinion that the All Party delegation had no intention of understanding and examining the problems being faced by people in the Jammu region. "We have been given a raw deal in all spheres of activities, may it be the share in state services, professional colleges and in the devolution of funds for development projects and the team from Delhi had no mandate to discuss these issues. Hence we decided to keep away from them," said Harsh Dev. Chrungoo said that in order to make up for the mistake of having sidelined the leaders of the organisations of the displaced people from Kashmir some members visited the migrant camp in order to know the problems being faced by the displaced people. "It is strange that top political leaders travel to the migrant camps after a gap of over 20 years to study the problems of the displaced people," Chrungoo lamented. Harsh said "I am happy I did not join the deliberations with the members from Delhi because their task was to appease Kashmiri separatists by suggesting to the Government of India to grant autonomy, withdraw troops and AFSPA and release detainees besides directing security forces to stop opening fire on protesters." "The Panthers Party supports full integration of Jammu and Kashmir, is opposed to repeal of the AFSPA and withdrawal of troops till the restoration of peace and normalcy to the state," he said. |
