early times report
JAMMU, Sept 23: Chairman SOS International-an Organ isation for PoK Refugees, Rajiv Chuni termed the All Party Delegation's visit to the State as ill timed when the ground conditions were not conductive to conduct such type of exercise has totally turned a stage managed flop show and hijacked by the Coalition Government to support the Kashmir centric policy of Government of India for the appeasement of Kashmiries. He strongly condemned the illegal arrest and lathicharge on PoK refugees on the occasion of visit of All Party Delegation.
Interacting with media today, Chuni said that the government mostly allowed those members of organizations to meet APD who tuned the songs in praise of government. "Our members were Lathicharged and not allowed to meet the APD", he added. If their motto was only to letdown the Nationalist forces, they should have better arranged a special charter-plane for them along with some of their own people for talks.
Rajiv condemned the role of Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Raman Bhalla to the plight and redressal of grievances for all sections of refugees including PoK refugees who were crucial to his winning the elections and demand his immediate resignation.
He also condemned the role of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which took a stand to boycott the All Party Delegation for not inviting the refugees and Valley migrants but lately joined when invitation was extended to four individual groups of Valley migrants only. It is clear that the party is only concerned with the Hindu Displaced Persons of Kashmir valley and is shedding crocodile tears for the minority Hindu and Sikh refugees and Displaced Persons of Jammu region.
He demanded refugee status of UN of 1951so that we get International Humanitarian Aid, eight assembly seats must be defrozen out of 24 assembly seats in the State, payment of all compensation in lieu of the properties left behind in 1947 on the pattern of refuges of Pakistan and Bengal, reservations in professional and technical colleges and special package of government jobs on the pattern of Valley Migrants, relief on the pattern of Valley Migrants, constitution of Refugee Dev Board with a corpus fund of Rs 1,000 crore, final comprehensive payment of Rs 50 lakh to each family of PoK refugees and granting of ST status.
SOS International demanded that no recommendation of the All Party Delegation be accepted by the Government of India and the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir State be instructed in clear terms to address the issues of common masses to break the present impasse and restore the order otherwise better to quit the power.
Other leaders of the SOS International who were present there include Suchwant Singh, Dr. Ram Chander Sharma, J.S Mangal, Com Saroop singh, Babu Daljit Singh, Paramjit Singh, Kulwant Singh, Mohinder Singh, Jagjit Singh Soodan, Er. Jasbir Singh, Rajesh Kumar, Vinod Sawhney, Pankaj Sawhney, Harbans singh, Dharminder Singh and Jagan Nath Thappar.
