Jammu ,Sept 23: Jammu University National Secular Forum (NSF) today staged a protest in the University campus against the central government for their failure in the setup of venue for upcoming Common Wealth Games (CWG), in New Delhi. They also torched effigy of UPA government as a sign of anguish.
Protestors alleged that, when the Centre has no capability to hold such a mega event of International level why do they go for same.
"Center is working on this project from past four years and an estimated cost of Rs 11,000 crore have been invested on this project, but still the venue is not suitable for any event," said Vikas, adding that this money was collected from different taxes imposed on the citizens of India.
Protestors alleged that PM, Manmohan Singh must intervene in this case and check the matter of alleged corruption. They alleged that the usage of substandard material in the construction work is the basic reason for its flop.
"Central and state government was damaging repute of the Nation by using substandard material for the construction which is visible as most parts of the venue is inundated under water and also bridges constructed collapsed even after days," protestors said.
Worrying over the image of the Nation, NSF also torched effigy of UPA government, alleging that due to their mismanagement, image of India
has been smeared at International level, as various teams have already pulled back. Earlier, the protest was organized under the leadership of NSF president, Ravi Sharma, accompanied by Surjit, SAeema, Manpreet Kour, Ravi Choudhary, Ashwani, Nangyal and many others.
