Panthers for strengthening of VDC's and SPO's | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Kishtwar, Sept 23: Provincial general secretary, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party from Kishtwar Anil Parihar today has demanded for strengthening of VDC's/SPO's in far flung areas of District Kishtwar, where the militants and the anti-national elements are still working threatening the sovereignty of the nation. He said that since the VDC's and SPO's has done a commendable job in thwarting the evil designs of the militants and anti national elements and demands for strengthening all these by providing them sophisticated weapons. He also demanded for regularization of SPO's/VDC members into regular police force, besides releasing of their monthly dues on time. He said the people of Kishtwar and its adjoining areas were facing acute shortage of drinking water and demands for early construction of proposed Naigard canal which is the long pending demand of the people of Kishtwar. He said that despite having vide scope of engaging unemployed youth, nothing has been done so far and stressed for exection of works on precious power projects in Kishtwar district like that of Rattle, Karthie, Kerru, Khawar, Pakal-Dool, Budsar and Hanswar so that the unemployed youths of the district Kishtwar and other parts of the state could be absorbed in these power projects. He said that Kishtwar district despite being the 3rd biggest district after Leh and Kargil, the road connectivity is less the 10 per cent and demands for speed up of construction of road work. He said that despite having large scale tourism potential in Marwah, Warwan, Padder and Chatroo areas, nothing has been done so far to tape this potential. He said that educational institutes and health sector is also lacking behind in terms of infrastructure and staff strength. He said that the funds for various schemes were released very late, that affects the progress of developmental work. He also demands for electrification of un-electrified areas of Marwah, Padder and Dachhan. He said that all the demands have also been put forth by the Panther Party delegation led by him, when they called up on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during his Kishtwar visit on Wednesday and hoped that the young CM of Jammu and Kashmir will look into the demands put forth by Panther Party in the larger interest of the common masses. |
