| PDD daily wagers on three days strike | | | early times report
JAMMU, Sept 23: All J&K PDD Daily Wagers Union staged 72 hours long Protest Demonstration in the Office of Chief Engineer, EM & RE Wing, Canal Road, Jammu from 23rd to 25th of September, 2010, under the Chairmanship of Kulbeer Singh. In the protest demonstration, the Union leaders raised slogans against the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for non fulfillment of his promise made with them on 27th January 2010 regarding resolving of all the pending issues of Daily Wagers. Chief Minister at that time assured that all our demands would be fulfilled within a period of 15 days , but inspite of that no such action has been taken in this regard by the Department as well as the administration even after the lapse of nine months. Their demands include regularization of Daily Wager employees employed after 1994 and release of all the pending wages of the Daily Wagers / Need Basis. The Union further submitted that we have withheld our agitation also because of ongoing unrest in the Kashmir Valley. Now we are fed up with the lame assurances of the Govt, and want the final decision with regard to resolve our pending demands. The Union further appeals to all the Daily Wagers of the PDD to gather at the site of demonstration to pressurize the government as well as the department for redressal of our grievances and make this 72 hours long demonstration a great success.
The demonstration was addressed by S. Kulbeer Singh, Tarun Gupta, Deepak Sharma, Raj Kumar, Balwinder Singh, Surinder Kohli, Subash Singh, Vikas Samotra and Raju Saini. |
