| Hillock caves in on NH; shops, vehicles damaged | | | early times report
JAMMU, Sept 23: A hillock, whose structure had become weaker probably because of rains, caved in today on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway at Magarkote in Ramsoo area of Ramban as a result of which a special police officer (SPO) was wounded while four shops and few vehicles got damaged.
The incident occured at about 12.30 pm, police sources said.
The rocks and earth came sliding down the hill and damaged four roadside shops, besides damaging an autoricksha and three trucks, the sources added.
SPO Mohammad Ayub was injured in the incident and hospitalised. He sustained injuries on the arm and other body parts.
The vehicular traffic was also disrupted for over three hours. Sources said the traffic was restored after the highway was cleared of the rocks and earth by BRO men and machinery. |
