DM imposes ban on entry of heavy vehicles in congested Dabbar chowk

Udhampur Sept 24: To avoid entry of heavy vehicles including Army vehicles during day time in Dabbar Chowk which is the main part of Udhampur city, the District Magistrate, Udhampur, Baseer Ahmed Khan in exercise of powers under section 144 Cr. PC has imposed restrictions on entry of such heavy vehicles forthwith for a period of two months.
According to the order, heavy vehicles i.e. trucks, tippers, buses, heavy load carriers and 3-ton army vehicles would not allowed to enter main city (Dabbar Chowk) during day time to minimize traffic congestion and haphazard parking of heavy vehicles which creates nuisance for the customers and business community as well.
The heavy vehicles of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department have been exempted from these restrictions.
Meanwhile DM also imposes ban on dumping construction material. DM under section 144 Cr. PC has imposed ban on dumping of all types of construction material like bricks, sand, bajri and stones on the public paths, link roads and National Highways of the district which create great obstruction to the movement of pedestrian as well as vehicular traffic, there by causing public nuisance which is punishable offence.
The public in general is informed through this notice to lift all type of construction material/obstacles on the road sides immediately, failing which they shall be dealt under law and the material so dumped shall be confiscated.
The order shall have immediate effect and shall remain enforce for a period of two months.
