| 42nd foundation day of NSS organised | | | Early Times Report
Kathua Sept 24: TO celebrate the 42nd foundation day of National Scheme Service, the NSS unit of Higher Secondary School (Boys), Kathua organised a programme in its campus. The programme began with Saraswati Vandana, deity of knowledge . On the occasion, the Principal of School Santosh Kohli threw light on the aims and objectives of National Service Scheme.
It was launched on 24th September, 1969, the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the Nation .
Speaking on the occasion Pawan Vivek, programme officer NSS unit HSS Boys said that the institution has a sanctioned strength of 100 volunteers and various activities under the aegis of NSS are undertaken for the benefit of students and volunteers.
Describing the aims and objectives, principal of the school said that the NSS scheme was started to establish a meaningful linkage between campus and the community and intends to give and extension to the education system to orientate the students towards community service. It provides an opportunity to work with the people in the village and slums.
