| Three held with 140 kg poppy straw | | |
JAMMU: Three persons were today apprehended by police at Miran Sahib along with 140 kg poppy straw.
SP (headquarters) said acting on a tip-off, cops led by Miran Sahib police station SHO, Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia intercepted a truck (JK03/0880) in the area and recovered the consignment from it.
The truck had come from Srinagar and was on its way to Simbal Morh, he added.
The SP said police seized the consignment and arrested three narcotic smugglers who were travelling in the truck.
The accused were identified as Nazir Mohammad, son of Ali Mohammad of Digiana, Barkat Singh, son of Kiran Singh and Amrik Singh, son of Gajan Singh, both residents of Simbal Morh.
They were booked under NDPS Act. The truck was also seized later. |
