9/24/2010 11:32:11 PM

JAMMU: 45 kilograms of RDX and a large quantity of other explosive items, including grenades, were recovered by police from a militant hideout in Baramullah area of Kashmir today.
Acting on tip-off, police launched a search operation in Nigli nullah area of Chandoosa in Baramullah, 65 km from Srinagar city, and unearthed the cache of arms, ammunition and explosives dumped there by the militants, police sources said.
The recovery included 45 kg RDX, 40 handgrenades, three AK rifles along with 11 magazines and 306 rounds, three pistols, six magazines, 130 rounds, nine radio sets and a wireless antenna.
The hideout was later destroyed by the cops, the sources added.
Sources said militants had probably dumped the arms and ammunition after security forces stepped up operations against the ultras in north Kashmir, where more than 33 militants were killed this month alone.
