Man approaches police for protection from militants | | | JAMMU: A resident of the remote Pangai village of Thanamandi and his two sons have approached Rajouri police and demanded protection from militants. Official sources said Mohammad Sharief and his two sons approached Rajouri police few days back with a complaint that they and their other family members faced a life threat from militants. Sharief said militants were forcing his sons to join militant cadres and work for them in Pangai area. His sons were also being asked to arrange shelter for them and also provide them logistic support, he added. He said militants had threatened to kill them in case they dared to raise voice against them, or refused to work for them. "Sharief has lodged a complaint with us as regards threats to him and his family by the militants," additional SP, Rajouri, Mohammad Shabir Choudhary said. The matter was under active consideration of police, he added, saying four to five militants were still active in Pangai area. Sources said Sharief did not want to send his sons back to the village as he feared threat to their lives. |
