| Missing medico's body recovered from Mansar lake | | | Early Times Report jammu, Sept 24: Almost one week after the expert divers of the Indian navy packed their special equipment brought in here from New Delhi to fish out the body of the MBBS student Syed Zuhaib Rizvi, who earlier went missing on May 14 near Mansar lake. His body was spotted floating on the surface of the lake on Friday by local villagers. This is for the first time in the recent history that a body of a human being has been recovered after a gap of more than four months and that too from under the water surface. According to available details, Zuhaib a final year student of a private medical college in Jammu went missing on May 14 near Mansar Lake. The police had recovered his wallet from near the Lake and on the basis of the circumstantial evidence were investigating the case. The final year student originally a resident of Nabdipora in Srinagar had recently come from home after spending some holidays with the family including his mother Sofi Nisar Raziv and sister before he went missing under mysterious circumstances. According to parental uncles of Zuhaib, after the recovery of the body the mystery behind the death would be unraveled by the police investigating team. According to SSP Samba JL Sharma inquest proceedings under section 176 of RPC have been initiated in the. Sharma said the body of Syed Zuhaib was spotted early Friday morning and was fished out before handing it over to the family members. Family members of Zuhaib have refused to believe the police theory that it was a case of suicidal death and have appealed to the police and the state chief Minister to order a thorough probe in the matter. Before the recovery of the body, his mother had written a letter to the chief minister Omar Abdullah requesting him to intervene in the matter and requesting expert Navy divers from New Delhi to trace the body from the Mansar lake. On the intervention of the chief minister, the PMO office in Delhi had agreed to rush an expert team of divers to do the job. The team landed here on September 10 and over a period of next seven days carried out extensive search operations at various depths to recover the body. |
