LeT plans to use women to trigger violence in Kashmir
9/24/2010 11:34:21 PM
Early Times Report
jammu, Sept 24: To up the ante by exponentially increasing the intensity of violence and consequently the number of casualties in the valley, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) plans to use women militants to trigger blasts by intermingling with protesters.
Intelligence inputs also suggested that the blasts were to be triggered near the police, or army installations as these were likely to provoke troops to open fire on the protesters to keep them away, according to official sources. As part of their strategy, LeT and the Pak ISI wanted people to be killed in the police firing as it would result in more anti-India protests, the sources added.
"It has come to the notice of the intelligence agencies through various inputs that LeT women terrorists are likely to intermingle with the protesters to trigger explosions," sources said.
The blasts would lead to large scale casualties and incite protesters to resort to violence, the sources added.
Such explosions were most likely to be carried out in close proximity to camps and posts of security forces to ensure that they faced the brunt of the violence and were forced to retaliate.
"This is likely to set in motion a chain of events leading to high rate of casualties," sources said.
The local operatives and militant sympathisers had also been instructed to motivate the economically weaker Kashmiris, including women, to join the protests, the sources added. The valley has been in the grip of violent protests since June 11 last when a 17-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a teargas shell during clashes at Rajouri Kadal in Srinagar city.
