On DCM's order, culprits involved in JDA embezzlement booked | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 25: Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand has said the government would not spare those who are found in embezzlement of public money, adding, that public servants involved in any kind of financial irregularities would be sternly dealt with. The Deputy Chief Minister said this while ordering an enquiry into a financial embezzlement in Jammu Development Authority (JDA), which was brought to his notice here. Tara Chand directed Vice-Chairman, JDA to take stern action against the guilty officials. Pertinently, an FIR has been lodged with the Trikuta Nagar, Police Station and the officials involved have been arrested. Meanwhile, the Vice-Chairman has already constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Superintending Engineer, JDA to hold a detailed enquiry into the matter. The Committee has been asked to submit its report within one month. The Chartered Accountant while compiling the accounts of JDA had detected the embezzlement to the tune of Rs 24-25 lakh in Division No.-1 of JDA and the same was prima-facia established by its finance wing. The modus operandi adopted by the officials was that the cash received by them against sale of departmental materials was not being actually deposited in the depart-ment's bank account. Instead they made false entries in the cash book, showing deposition of cash in the bank's account. |
