| Court rejects bail of JDA cashier JDA | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 25: Forest Magistrate Jammu Sandeep Kour today rejected the bail application of Purshtom Kumar one of the accused allegedly involved in much publicized embezzlement of Rs 23, 86, 998/- in Jammu Development Authority.
According to the police report that on the written complaint of Vice Chairman JDA on September 22, 2010, Police Station Trikuta Nagar registered a case against accused allegedly involved in misappropriation of Rs 23, 86, 998/- in JDA Div-I during the period 2007-2010. The embezzlement has been done by the officials concerned, they were receiving cash from the contractors against the sale of departmental materials and made false entry in the cash book. It is further stated that cash stands deposited in JDA Bank account, but actually did not deposit the case in the bank. The officials who function as cashier during the said period were Suresh Razdan from April 2007-2009, Purshtom Kumar April 2009-2010.
The court after hearing Prosecuting Officer Manzoor Hussain for the state and gone through the police report along with CD file and also referred various judgments of Supreme Court and High Court of J&K observed that the merit of the case grant of bail at this stage, when the investigation has just commenced and the recovery of alleged embezzled amount is still to be affected, the bail application will be pre-matured and give wrong signal to society and will shake the confidence of the people in the Court specially when the offence is committed by the Public Servant who was entrusted with public amount and dismissed the bail application of Purshtom Kumar. ---JNF |
