Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 25: The members of the Indo-European Kashmir Forum ,the major UK Hindu Organizations and the UK Kashmiri Pandits paid homage to Kashmiri Hindu martyrs on the occasion of Balidan Divas.
Dr. Raj Pandit Sharma ,the Chief Priest of the Sanatan Dharm Mandir in London , performed a Havan and offered a special Puja for the brave and courageous Kashmiri Hindus who fought with dignity and pride. They laid down their lives for their community. The Havan was led by Mr. Moti Kaul, the President of All India Kashmir Samaj, who flew directly from Mumbai to London on September 19 to attend this solemn event with the Kashmiri Hindu Communities in the UK .
Tributes were paid to Kashmiri Hindus who lost their lives at the hands of the Islamist terrorists. Tributes were also paid to the brave army personnel who lost their lives defending our country. A one minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to these Martyrs.
The current political situation in Kashmir and the recent statement made by the Indian Prime Minister, Dr .Manmohan Singh ,of granting more autonomy to the State was discussed at the seminar after the Havan. Moti Kaul highlighted the repercussions of autonomy to the State and the need for protecting the genuine rights of Kashmiri Hindu communities. In response to the queries raised by the members from the gathering , Kaul eloquently explained the overall situation . Kaul said that Kashmir is a testing ground for the Indian secularism and democracy return, restitution and retention of Kashmiri Pandits/Hindus ,as a concentrated group in Kashmir ,is litmus test of the will and sincerity of the Indian Government and the State administration.
``The Kashmir problem cannot find a durable solution unless Kashmiri Pandits, the pristine and indigenous representatives of a 500-year old culture and civilization of Kashmir, are part of the negotiations and dialogues as equal stake holders.
