Sports dying slow death in J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 25: Sports and relative activities are dying a slow death in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Courtesy: lack of required facilities and infrastructure and apathy of those sitting at the helm of the affairs. All the claims and assurances of the sports authorities are proving hollow as far as the condition of the sports and sports person in the state is concerned. This is particularly true in case of Basket Ball court in MAM Stadium under the State Sports Council. Its floor is required to be free from all hurdles so that the upcoming hoopsters can practice on it. But, sources revealed that there are numerous cracks in the court and is closed for practice now that is the reason due to which the hoopsters are forced to practice in Mini stadium, Parade. Recently, the Director General S S Leherwal had suspended the Basket Ball coach Shaktish Chopra for his unauthorised absence from the duty recently. This has further dented the practice sessions of the hoopsters. One of the sportspersons on the condition of anonymity told that the players have been demanding the repair of the basket ball court since long but the concerned authorities were not paying any heed to their demand. |
