EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 25: Ashish Kumar of Trikuta Degree College, Nardarni in Raipur became the new men's Jammu district champion in the 10th Jammu District Sport Climbing competition, organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K at Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, here today. Sunny Raina and Nitesh Sharma, both of St. Xavier Convent School, secured the second and third place respectively. Meanwhile, in a keen contest in girls' category, Romika Thakur of Shastri Memorial School emerged victorious whereas Supriya Sharma of Oriental Academy and Vaishali of Shiksha Niketan clinched the second and third place respectively. The competition in the boys' category, wherein 83 climbers are participating, today entered the semifinals stages. Whereas, the competition in women's and sub-junior boys' categories would be held tomorrow. In all, about 253 boys and girls from 13 institutions of the district are participating in this two-day competition. Earlier, the competition was declared open by Minister for Revenue, Raman Bhalla. He was accompanied by Member Legislative Assembly, Ashwani Sharma. Speaking to the gathering, Minister promised all possible help to the Association for raising the necessary infrastructure for the promotion of sport climbing.
