PHE employee among 6 drug peddlers held | | | JAMMU/RAJOURI: A PHE department employee and five other drug peddlers were arrested by police from different areas here today along huge consignments of the banned drugs. Police sources said four persons, including a PHE department employee, were early this morning apprehended by police from a bus near Rajouri along with a huge quantity of the banned parvan spas capsules and corex bottles. They were identified as PHE employee Anwar Hussain, son of Nazir Hussain of Darhi Morh, Mohammad Naseer alias Bhau, son of Mohammad Amin Mirza of Ujhan, Mohammad Shakoor alias Papu, son of Mohammad Amin Mirza of Ujhan, and Aiyaz Ahmed alias Mina Dadoo, son of Nazir Hussain of Ujhan. Sources said acting on a tip-off, police laid a special naka near Panja Chowk and intercepted a bus (3869/JK02H) in which the accused were travelling. 300 corex bottles and 1,000 parvan spas capsules concealed in three bags were recovered from their possession, the sources added. A case under NDPS Act was registered against them at the Rajouri police station. Sources said that the racket was operating in Rajouri for the last two years and police were keeping a track on their activities for the past few months. The accused told police that they had been smuggling the banned drugs from Pathankote in Punjab into the state. The Rajouri police station SHO Jan Mohammad said the bus was on its way from Jammu to Rajouri and they already had inputs that the drugs were being smuggled in it. The SHO said though the actual cost of a corex bottle was Rs 70, the accused were selling it at Rs 700 per bottle. The consignment was to be delivered to local dealers who were also likely to be taken into custody, he added. During their interrogation, the accused also gave police the names and addresses of their handlers in Jammu. Their sustained interrogation was in progress. Meanwhile, Pucca Danga police today arrested two motorcycle-borne youth from new Rehari here along with 1,850 buprenorphin injections and 900 parvan spas capsules. They were identified as Rahul alias Rinku Dana, son of Bodh Raj of Afgana Mohalla and Ajay Sharma, son of Ramesh Chander of Hoshiarpur, Punjab. They too were booked under NDPS Act. |
