Deputation of Chenab valley dev council call on CM

Jammu, Sept 26: All party action committee for Chenab valley hill development council delegation comprising of Ram Singh Chauhan, Abdul Rehman Wani, Shabir Ahmed, Hans Raj Kotwal, Kanta Devi, Ghulam Hassan Tak under its patron Sheikh Abdul Rehman, called on chief minister Omar Abdullah during his visit to Doda and apprised him about the age old hardships being faced by the poor people of chenab valley region.
Rehman while assuring the CM about maintaining communal harmony at all costs following coming verdict on Ayodhya issue, informed the CM that he has issued directions to all party workers across the state to ensure that age old communal harmony is maintain and not fall into the trap of communal elements.
While reminding CM about the commitment made to the people of Chenab Valley during last assembly elections about granting hill development council status, through NC’s manifesto Rehman said that Chenab valley region now comprising of district Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar is lagging behind all 22 district in the state in all walks of life- be it literacy rate, BPL families, reserved backward villages road lengths etc but richest in natural wealth i.e. Forests, mineral, hydel potential etc comprising of about 7 lakhs population with an area of 12,500 sq kms. He said that due to its inaccessible, hilly and snow bound terrain, the only way to ensure it all round development irrespective of cast, creed and colour, is granting of constituency guaranted mechanism of governance in the shape of hill development council in Leh and Kargil pattern. Rehman emphasized upon the CM to introduce a bill in this behalf in the ensuing assembly session to fulfill their commitment to the people of the grant of hill development council to the chenab valley. Rehman also appealed the PDP to support the proposed bill as they too have made a commitment to the people in their manifesto in the last assembly elections.
As per press release chief minister heard the deputationists patiently and appreciated the views putforth by the delegation assuring them that he will try to do the needful in this behalf.
