| Pensioners hold rally, raises demands | | | Early Times Report JAMMU SEPT 26: All Jammu and Kashmir Pensioners Association held a mass rally here on Sunday under the leadership of Mukand Lal Sharma. The rally was presided over I.D Soni and attended by large number of pensioners. The Association criticized the policy of government for delaying tactics in solving the problems of the pensioners who have been struggling for last two years. The Association appealed to the pensioners of the State to be united under the leadership of veteran leader Mukand Lal Sharma. Speaking on the occasion, Sharma regretted that the government has increased the monthly salary of the legislators and Member of Parliament with three times hike and additional perks but the pensioners are waiting for the arrears from January, 2006. He demanded that the demands of the pensioners be fulfilled at the earliest. Their demands include arrears of revision of pension w.e.f. 1-1-2006 to 30-6-2009 be paid in one investment in inspect of State pensioners, the additional quantum of pension in favour of state pensioners after attaining the age of 80, 85, 90, 95,100 years and above at the rate of 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% and 100% on the analogy of central government older pensioners, that the Medical Allowance be enhanced from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1000 to the State Pensioners, Release of 6% D A installment due from January, 2009 to June, 2009 with full arrears, that original amount of computation of pension granted in favour of pensioners be recovered in 10 years instead of 15 years, 13% VAT imposed on the sale of canteen items for the Defence Personnel be abolished forthwith.
